Hand-poured candles, chai blends, and original paintings by Nargis Salmani Forber-Pratt, carried from a village in Uttar Pradesh to a kitchen table in Missouri.
In an Indian home, nobody asks why you came before the tea is already on the stove.
That's the whole idea behind Mashallah Arts. Every candle, every tin of tea, every painting is a small version of that welcome. Come in. Sit down. You don't have to earn a place at this table. It was already set for you.
Mashallah is a word that lives in everyday Hindi and Urdu speech. It roughly means "what God has willed," and people say it when something good happens: a new baby, a beautiful meal, a friend's success.
It's a way of receiving good things with gratitude instead of pride. That's how I hope you'll feel holding something from this shop, not "look what I made," but "look what was given."
“This is a life-long dream: to make things that bring people joy.” — Nargis
Hand-poured in small batches, with scents that carry you somewhere — from an autumn harvest glow to a cozy winter fireside. Light one when you want a room to feel like someone's waiting for you.

Original acrylic paintings by Nargis. Color the way she grew up seeing it: bold, bright, unembarrassed. Each piece is one of a kind. When it's gone, it's gone.

People sometimes talk about bringing India to America like it's a delivery. It isn't. A bridge carries traffic in both directions.
Nargis brings the colors, flavors, and hospitality she grew up with. And this country has taught her things too: a new language, a new way of life, new friends at her door. Mashallah Arts lives right in the middle, where both sides meet and nobody has to stop being who they are to be welcome.
Everything here is made with prayer and gratitude. That's the root under the flower on our logo.
And you are welcome here exactly as you are, whatever you believe, wherever your family is from, whatever you're carrying today. Love doesn't play favorites. Neither does this table.
